My education philosophy is be a mix between realism and existentialism. I believe that schools as well as teachers have the responsibility to produce productive citizens. With that in mind students need to know the history of one’s country and of the world. That lack of historical understanding only produces a group of people who will repeat it. Students that experience the subject that they are learning not only stay interested but also help them in retaining the knowledge learned. Through discussion of one’s ideas people are able to identify errors and see an idea from a different points of view. In my classroom I encourage students to look outside the box and to discuss their findings. Not only to gain knowledge from text but to gain knowledge from the ideas of peers, and others that have come before them. People want to know why things happen in the world and to them personally. Through discussion students are able to obtain their own truth to some of life’s hard questions. I believe that teachers are important to the success of a society. Without great educators then people of that society are kept down while other people making their decisions. Government plays a role in education but that role must be separate. The Federal government should have a standard for students to meet before continuing on to the next grade level. The state government should decide how standards will be achieved. The people of the state need input on how the school systems will work because if the many don’t decide then the few will determine the future of education. School should be a community within a community Administrators, students, and teachers must care about the community they are in or the community will not care about the school. For each to be successful both must work together. This is possible by encouraging community service awareness. To be great you must act great. To teach acceptance I must model that behavior. To teach the young you must be sensitive and understand their backgrounds so that you are able to help each student achieve greatness. I am flexible to change in how I teach and the tools I use to teach. A great teacher is also a great student always open to learning new things and different ways to be successful. I am up on new technology and try to keep my students involved in class work the same way they are involved with each other. My students will be given rewards for academic achievement and self achievement. I believe that treating students with respect will gain respect. Each student that comes into my class has a not only a past but a future, and each student needs to be giving an opportunity to achieve greatness.
